Artists carrying drawing pads and other materials, acrylics, etching plates, water colors, oil paint, crayons and who knows what all trudge into the HMAP premises Saturday mornings to do their respective "things." Belying its name, the Drawing Group includes, in addition to artists who make traditional and experimental drawings, artists who work in a wide variety of mediums to create sketches, etchings, drypoints, trace prints, monotypes, water colors, and oil paintings.
At different sessions, those present create still lifes, images of professional male and female models, at times nude, and likenesses of each other or from the surrounding landscape. HMAP requests an $8.00 fee when models are present. The atmosphere is casual, conversation is extensive and convivial and instruction and comments from other members of the group are offered and exchanged only on request.
Artists at any and all levels of expertise are welcome and encouraged to attend. Sessions run from 9:30am through 12:30pm and light snacks and coffee and the like are included. Call ahead if you plan to attend so we can let you know when a session has to be cancelled.
